About this property

Welcome to The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel

Perched atop a 150-foot oceanfront bluff in Dana Point, The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel offers sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and direct access to Salt Creek Beach via a complimentary shuttle. This Mediterranean-style resort combines stylish accommodations with coastal elegance, featuring rooms and suites that often include private balconies to enjoy California sunsets. The property’s manicured grounds, multiple outdoor pools, and full-service spa contribute to a relaxed yet refined atmosphere.

The resort’s dining options include fine establishments such as 180blu, known for its Pan-Latin cuisine and ocean views, alongside various bars and lounges. While some guests appreciate these dining venues, others note limited casual seating areas to enjoy the scenery outside of mealtimes or oceanfront rooms. Facilities also encompass a fitness center and beach shuttle, supporting both relaxation and active pursuits during the stay.

Guest feedback frequently highlights the attentive service and thoughtful touches by staff, particularly during special occasions, enhancing the overall experience. However, some reviews mention that certain public spaces could benefit from updates, and that the premium pricing occasionally feels disproportionate to aspects of the guest experience, especially in peak periods.

Located within short driving distance of attractions like Monarch Beach Golf Links and popular nearby parks such as Crystal Cove State Park and Doheny State Beach, the hotel suits travelers seeking a coastal retreat with upscale amenities. Its blend of scenic setting, elegant accommodations, and attentive service makes it a fitting choice for couples, families, and visitors looking to explore Southern California’s coastline in comfort.

My family and I visited RC Laguna Niguel this past January to celebrate our two boys' birthdays, and the staff made the trip feel truly special from start to finish. I had notified the front desk in advance about the occasion, and they made our boys feel celebrated throughout the stay.  They left delicious treats in our room (even accommodating my husband's allergies), wished them happy birthday at every meal, and left a thoughtful note. Special shout-outs to Amanda, one of the managers in the Club Lounge, who even prepared special food for my boys (tip: if you ever need kid-friendly food, they can make it for you!) and to Lee, a security guard who went out of his way to show my husband around the property and surprised the kids with cute apparel. Highlights of our trip also included a delicious meal at Raya, beautiful ocean views, comfortable beds, easy beach access, and just a relaxed atmosphere for our staycation.  We will definitely be back!

Stayed here 5 nights for an ocean-front getaway in October. Loved the location, clifftop with amazing ocean views, BUT there were so few places to enjoy the view unless you were eating at the restaurant or at the bar outside. I thought that was the biggest drawback. There was no seating on the lawn along the cliff or places inside the hotel to enjoy that view unless you paid for an ocean front room. The entire lower level looking out to the ocean was conference and meeting rooms - wasted space when there's no conference going on and guests can't use them. Lovely pool area, but service there was very slow. Had a great experience with the adventure center staff though, we did a kayak tour and enjoyed the naturalist talk at happy hour, those were great. I did morning yoga a couple days out on the lawn looking over the ocean, that was really nice! Many of the valet and naturalist staff were younger locals that grew up in the community and knew the area really well, which was really nice. Had a few really good meals at Raya and an amazing dinner at Kahani. The pool menu was not very inspired. Overall, a good getaway, but you could do so much more with that incredible location.

Breathtaking Views and Exceptional Service The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel is one of those places that never fails to impress. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with warmth and professionalism that immediately makes you feel at home. The ocean views are absolutely stunning, and every corner of the property is immaculate. The service here is consistently top-notch — everyone you encounter is friendly, attentive, and genuinely cares about your experience. Whether you’re relaxing by the pool, enjoying a drink on the terrace, or taking a stroll along the beach, everything feels effortless and perfectly curated. It’s the ideal mix of laid-back coastal California and refined luxury. My wife and I always leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already planning our next visit.

We stayed at the Ritz in November and were absolutely thrilled with the property, as well as its location right on the Pacific. We had lunch at the Raya Restaurant every day and were able to enjoy the wonderful ocean view. The staff was very friendly. I was only surprised that you had to pick up your food to go yourself and that there was no room service for it. The spa area is very elegant and beautiful. After my massage with Helany (which I highly recommend), I was able to enjoy the sauna right away. The lovely Christmas decorations gave us beautiful photos. We will definitely be back and can wholeheartedly recommend this luxury hotel.

We stayed at Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel- Dana Point recently to celebrate my wife's birthday. As expected with Ritz Carlton, the service, professionalism, and friendliness of the entire staff was phenomenal, but this team exceeded expectations. Our room with the balcony overlooking the Pacific had incredible views. We greatly enjoyed our walks down to the ocean each day and the beautiful surroundings. The dining throughout was great, and we ate at Raya on for her birthday evening. We also got some fabulous sunset photos that made the evening even more special. Lastly, we really enjoyed the club. The team working there and the other guests were great and Jenny, who was one of the managers, felt like an old friend by the time we departed. We had a truly memorable stay.

Absolutely stunning views. But the staff makes this place special. First of all, Nickolas at the front desk-thank you for the great room! Love the pool bar, Josh is the OG rock star! Great vibe and super personable. Last but not least Judy at the lobby bar. Thanks for putting up with us! I can’t say enough good about this place!! Ready to come back and haven’t even left yet.

We experienced the candlelight event for the first time and it was absolutely beautiful!!! It was so fun to see these talented musicians put their classical spin on these popular bands. We cannot wait to go again and experience other genres.

Located perched dramatically atop a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel is the quintessential Southern California luxury resort experience. From the moment you arrive, the breathtaking panoramic views of Salt Creek Beach and endless ocean horizons set the tone for an unforgettable stay. The property itself feels like a luxurious coastal sanctuary — manicured grounds, elegant public spaces, and modern guest rooms that emphasize comfort and style. Many rooms and suites offer sweeping ocean views and furnished balconies, inviting guests to soak in California’s legendary sunsets right from their private space. The interior design strikes a balance between refined and relaxed, although some reviewers note that certain areas could benefit from a contemporary refresh. Service is where the Ritz-Carlton brand really shines. Staff members at check-in and around the property are generally warm, professional, and attentive, often going the extra mile to make special occasions — like birthdays or anniversaries — feel truly memorable. Dining options on-site span several restaurants and bars, with Raya being a standout thanks to creative Pan-Latin cuisine and spectacular ocean views. For beach lovers, the resort’s location is hard to beat. A complimentary tram takes guests down the bluff to Salt Creek Beach, where surfing, sunbathing, and coastal walks await. The property also boasts multiple outdoor pools, a well-equipped fitness center, and a full-service spa for those looking to unwind in style. That said, this level of luxury comes at a premium, and some guests feel the price doesn’t always perfectly align with every aspect of the experience — particularly in peak season when crowds and beach traffic can be heavy. Overall, The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel delivers a quintessential California coastal escape with world-class service, stunning scenery, and the comfort expected of a top tier luxury resort — a perfect choice for couples, families, and anyone seeking a memorable oceanside getaway.
